Is it time to blog again?

I was an avid blogger but somehow, I got a bit tired of writing on my blog. I stopped blogging at about the same time I stopped writing for Mobile Philippines(m|ph). I probably got tired of it because of the demands of my job. I used to be able to sneak some online and/or offline writings during office hours but as more and more tasks are assigned to me, I find less and less time to write.

This is supposed to be a good thing because I am more productive in my day-job but one thing that has noticeably suffered is that my writing mojo may have started to run out :(

Another reason I stopped blogging and writing for the magazine is that I am only trying to prevent any accidental "leakage" of things I do at work. I am now an Information Security Manager, a far cry from my previous gig as a Tech Support Specialist. As an information security practicitioner, have to be careful with what I disclose on whatever media I use.

Should those things stop me from blogging?

I guess I'm the only one who can answer that...

Are Bloggers Ruining the 'Net?

When I first started blogging, I did it as an experiment, a way to practice my writing skills (because back then I was still quite active at moonlighting as a writer in a local magazine) and to broadcast what I feel to the whole cyberspace. I got to know like-minded people and I loved trolling around blogs, looking for interesting things to read.

But lately I slowly realized that a lot of local "bloggers" (emphasis on the quotes) have become advertorial avenues for stores, restaurants, etc. Case in point: a local telco has launched a new service that will associate a "landline" number to an existing cellphone account. When I googled this service, the first 10 search hits were blogs that "announces" the service and the contents of those announcements are mostly the same -- probably copied word-for-word from the telco's press release. I ended up just calling the telco's call center to get the information I want.

There are still some blogs that are worth reading like MarketManila, Lifehacker, etc. but it seems like the list is becoming shorter and shorter as days go by. I have other rants on how these so-called "bloggers" are ruining cyberspace. I'll probably post it when another wave of inspiration hits me.

2-Scores-Old!

Today, I'm marking another milestone in my life... effective midnight last night, I officially entered the big four-0h(my goodness!). I may not look it (I wish! and this is subject to a looong debate), but I surely don't feel like it!

I am not expecting anything big today but still, I'm thankful for what I have...
  • A nice little family -- a wife that I love (and who loves me back) and a terrific kid that I hope to bring up to be a better man than I am
  • A good job -- something I didn't really study for but something I really love doing
  • A small but relevant circle of friends, all of whom I am proud to consider as friends.
  • A chance to have some of my writings published
  • A relatively comfortable life...
So what more can I ask for?

So This is What Would Have Happened...

if I married my ex-girlfried, former model and actress Cameron Diaz (hehehehe...). Too bad for her, I chose to marry the love of my life and we are blessed with a wonderful kid who is far cuter and smarter than the one shown above :)
